Can some maybe an officer or an ANC person post results of the monthly meetings? Some of us have to work late and don't get a chance to attend.
thanks. |

The July meeting on Tuesday was attended by approximately Thirteen persons, including a rep from USAO and the Councilmembers Office.
The Successful Drug Free Zone was discussed that took place from Thursday, July 8-July 12, 2004. There were no arrests and no crimes occurred within the zone from Park to Newton and 17th to 18th Street, NW. This was due to the excellent coordination between the residents and footbeat officers that has reduced the presence of drug dealers in the Triangle Park. In addition it was stressed that residents have now purchased plants and flowers and planted them and personally removed graffitti from large planter boxes. THe park has been claimed by the community for their enjoyment.
Unreported crime was discussed in and around the large apartment buildings on the west side of 16th Street, NW. Sergeant Gauck discussed his idea to assign one building to each evening shift officer so they can conduct meet & greets every day to improve trust with the residents and encorage them to report crimes when they occur.
Finally, the lights needing replacement were discussed on Newton and Monroe Street, NW near the Brown Street Market. I indicated that MR. Jose Sueiro would be advised so DDOT could be notified. |
